Fashion

Stephanie Petzak doesn't enjoy harsh sunlight without purple shades.

Light Setup (for the most part)

Pink is the new brunette.
I wish I would have used a softbox for this shoot. She's too pale and washed out.

420 Portrait Assignment

Elise is a girl who is not open to share her personal life and feelings easily. "I've dedicated a lot of my energy into discovering who I am, and I am not about to reveal my raw self to a world full of dependents - I've worked too long and hard to put this self-supporting foundation under my feet," states Elise Vezina, a junior at CMU studying Marketing so she may launch a career in Fashion.

*I shot this photo with one strobe and a soft box. It was located directly to Elise's left. She was about two feet away from the light.
*I've realized through this experience that it's difficult to shoot a model in dark clothing.
*I wanted my lighting to be a little dark - however after looking through my images I think that if I would have played with my settings (fstop and shutter speed) more, my images for this shoot would have turned out more clean and cut.
This photo was shot with an ISO 0f 200 @ f11 and shutter speed of 1/250

Crystal Quillan, a junior at CMU studying Health Fitness, claims that a bubbly personality is one that brings optimism and fun to any situation, "I've only got one life to live, I might as well make it is as sparkling as possible".

*For this photo I had one strobe to Crystal's left with a soft box attached. Because she was sitting down for this photo, I had it shining down on her slightly.

While executing this assignment I realized how much the in class practice helped me gain familiarity with a studio and lighting. I also realized how much more I absolutely need to learn. I learn best from trial and error, practice, practice, practice. I just wish I had more experience working in a studio, but I guess that's one of a few reasons I'm in college and enrolled in this course !
